Evans Army Community Hospital - Fort Carson, CO
Evans Army Community Hospital was the site of a special Visions of Valor exhibit June 20 - July 14, 2006.
During TriWest's opening ceremony, Medal of Honor recipient Gary Littrell spoke about Specialist Fourth Class Donald W. Evans, Jr., an Army medic who was killed in Vietnam. Evans, for whom the hospital is named, received a posthumous Medal of Honor for aiding wounded soldiers while refusing medical treatment for his own mortal injuries. Littrell had a very personal connection to Fort Carson; he retired from the Army from Fort Carson in 1984.
